Drones have struck an oil depot in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, while the Palkino oil pumping station in the Yaroslavl region, previously targeted in an attack, is also burning.
Russia’s Krasnodar Krai operational headquarters reported that the oil depot was hit during the night of June 16. Exilenova+ Telegram channel published video footage from the scene.
According to Russian officials, a fire broke out at the facility in the village of Poltavskaya. As in previous cases, Russian authorities claimed that the fire was caused by debris from Ukrainian drones allegedly shot down by air defenses.
Authorities said that 32 personnel and seven pieces of equipment were deployed to extinguish the fire. They also reported that the road between the village of Poltavskaya and the settlement of Trudobelikovsky was temporarily closed following the drone attack.
The oil depot is used to store and transship fuel supplied by local refineries. It serves as a key distribution hub, providing petroleum products to gas station networks across Krasnodar Krai and the Republic of Adygea.
The previous evening, the Russian service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty published a satellite image showing a fire at the Palkino oil pumping station in Russia’s Yaroslavl region.
Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the strike on the facility on June 14. According to the statement, the operation was successfully executed in coordination with the Russian resistance movement Chornaya Iskra (Black Spark).
The Special Operations Forces noted that the Palkino oil pumping station is a key component of the Surgut–Polotsk trunk oil pipeline.
The station is used to transport crude oil from Siberia, which is then pumped onward to oil refineries and export terminals.
After the Baltic Pipeline System was commissioned, the station became part of Transneft Baltika and emerged as a key link in the logistics chain supporting Russian oil exports via the Port of Primorsk in the Leningrad region.
As previously reported, during the night of June 15, attack drones targeted Russia’s Port Kavkaz in the Temryuk district of Krasnodar Krai, where an oil storage facility is located.
The strike triggered a fire at the marine terminal, according to data from NASA’s FIRMS fire-monitoring service.
