Denmark has decided against upgrading its existing fleet of CV9035DK infantry fighting vehicles and will instead purchase new vehicles in the CV9035IIIC version.

Hans Tino Hansen, founder and CEO of Risk Intelligence, shared this.

As a result, 44 IFVs that will not undergo modernization could potentially be transferred to Ukraine, in addition to the new vehicles ordered under the joint Denmark–Sweden contract.

For Denmark, this move will allow the country to have a unified fleet of 159 CV9035 Mk III C combat vehicles, which will be operated as part of the 1st Brigade of the Danish Army.

This will significantly improve the standardization of equipment within the military and provide units with new infantry fighting vehicles, simplifying their operation and maintenance.

It should be noted that Denmark currently operates 44 CV9035DK infantry fighting vehicles, a fleet that will be expanded through the additional order.

At the same time, the Swedish division of BAE Systems AB is investing additional funds to increase CV90 infantry fighting vehicle production to 250 units per year, starting in 2026.

This will not only double the annual production to 250 vehicles but also, over time, reach a new level, with up to 350 CV90s produced per year within a few years.

Overall, the countries of Northern Europe and the Baltics plan to jointly purchase around one thousand infantry fighting vehicles, and accelerating production rates is critically important for timely reinforcement of forces amid the Russian threat.

From this perspective, Denmark’s purchase of new vehicles will potentially support Ukraine while also ensuring continued production through new orders, which is a positive development for the manufacturer.

Militarnyi previously reported that Sweden and Denmark jointly contracted the production of over two hundred CV90 infantry fighting vehicles, 40 of which are intended for Ukraine.

It is worth noting that this June, the Netherlands also invested €400 million in a Swedish fund aimed at securing the production of CV90 infantry fighting vehicles for Ukraine.
