Russia Threatens to Attack British Defense Plants Over Support for Ukraine

Russia has threatened the United Kingdom with “paramilitary actions” and attacks on manufacturers of drones and missile components due to the transfer of military technology to Ukraine.

Former Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Fedorov, whom Western media refer to as a “Kremlin adviser,” stated this in a comment to the BBC.

He said that regarding the United Kingdom, “sooner or later” there could be not only a verbal but also a “visible reaction” from Russia. According to him, Moscow does not rule out “semi-military actions” against companies that manufacture drones and rocket components for Ukraine.

When asked what exactly such a response might entail, Fedorov stated that “something could happen” to British factories.

“They may be attacked not by Russia, but by unknown sources,” he said.

The pro-Kremlin political analyst’s statement came after the United Kingdom announced its decision to share with Ukraine the technology for producing the Storm Shadow/SCALP EG air-launched cruise missiles.

The Russian regime often uses various so-called experts or former officials to voice radical threats against Western countries—threats that official diplomats or current officials are not yet able to state outright.

This is not the first threat directed at the UK. Last week, the Russian Embassy in London threatened “consequences” over the Ukrainian military’s use of British jet-powered drones to strike targets on Russian territory.

SCALP EG for Ukraine

On August 24, it was announced that the United Kingdom would allow MBDA to declassify data on the components used in SCALP cruise missiles to enable their production in Ukraine.

In July, President Emmanuel Macron stated that France would grant Ukraine licenses to manufacture these cruise missiles.

He also announced the launch of production of Aster 30 anti-aircraft missiles for SAMP/T air defense systems and AASM Hammer air-to-ground bombs.
