Rheinmetall’s US subsidiary has been awarded a $31 million contract to implement a demonstration project for the rapid damage assessment and repair of Bradley combat vehicles for the US Army and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The contract was awarded for 18 months through the US National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS).
As part of the project, the company will create an advanced repair infrastructure capable of assessing and repairing damaged vehicles closer to the combat zone. This will reduce vehicle downtime and increase its combat readiness until new spare parts or specialized repair teams arrive.
The demonstration will use a Bradley infantry fighting vehicle as a platform to test the effectiveness of the mobile DAR (Damage Assessment and Repair) team.
The team will be provided with modern tools, techniques and access to a flexible supply chain that will allow them to quickly restore vehicles in difficult conditions.
The project aims to create a scalable model of remote repair stations capable of operating in dangerous or hard-to-reach areas. It is expected that such a system will reduce time wastage, increase infrastructure resilience, and ensure that equipment is quickly returned to service.
The project is scheduled to be completed in March 2027. At that time, the first repaired Bradley infantry fighting vehicles are expected to be delivered and tested under the new repair model.
