On October 17, two drones of unknown origin were spotted near the military base of the 2nd Infantry Brigade of the Estonian Defense Forces Reedo in the south of the country.

This was reported by the spokeswoman for the General Staff of the Estonian Defense Forces, Liis Waxmann, Postimees reports.

The incident occurred near a military camp, where one of the drones was shot down by the allied military using an anti-drone rifle.

After the drone was destroyed, the Estonian military, together with the police and the Border Guard (PPA), conducted a search operation.

However, they failed to find the downed drone in the area of the alleged crash.

“The defense forces do not comment on security-related incidents in more detail,” Waxmann said.

Reedo is home to the 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, U.S. Army (5-7 CAV), an armored reconnaissance unit that is part of NATO’s allied forces.

The town is located near the city of Võru, about 45 kilometers from the border with Russia.

As a reminder, Estonia has stated that it is ready to shoot down Russian aircraft in case of a threat.
