406th Artillery Brigade Armed With Bohdana Self-Propelled Howitzers

The 406th Separate Artillery Brigade named after Corporal General Oleksii Almazov has been equipped with Ukrainian-made Bohdana wheeled self-propelled howitzers.

This became known from a video published on the brigade’s Facebook account.

The brigade invites those interested to join their ranks directly, without going through the Territorial Center of Recruitment and Social Support.

The unit has vacancies for the following positions:

• Gun crew members
• Section commanders
• Medical personnel
• Drivers
• Other motivated specialists.

Bohdana Self-Propelled Howitzer

Previously, Ihor Fedirko, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Council of Defence Industry, stated that the Ukrainian industry could double the production of the Bohdana self-propelled howitzer by launching the production of artillery systems on several chassis at once.

Fedirko said that the Ukrainian defence industry was producing significantly more wheeled howitzers than the previously announced record of 18 units per month.

He did not name the exact number of monthly artillery systems, but the potential for production growth by 2-3 times, i.e. at least up to 40 units, is clear. The key limitation for scaling is the supply of chassis for the vehicles.

In March, it became known that the 18th Sloviansk Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine had received Ukrainian-made Bohdana 155mm wheeled self-propelled howitzers.

The artillerymen of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, who are performing combat missions on the front line as part of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, were also armed with Ukrainian-made 155 mm self-propelled artillery systems.

Towed Bohdana Howitzer

Ukraine’s 47th Separate Artillery Brigade has received its first towed Bohdana-B 155mm howitzer, a domestically produced artillery system.

Bohdana-B is based on the artillery unit of Bohdana self-propelled howitzer, mounted on a towed carriage derived from the Soviet-era Giatsint-B gun. According to the released photos, the cannon retains its original 52-caliber barrel length.
