The Netherlands will soon allocate €90 million to Ukraine for the production of strike and reconnaissance drones.
Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans announced this, as reported by European Pravda.
He made the statement ahead of a meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of defense ministers.
“The Netherlands is doing more [for Ukraine] than ever before. A few days ago, I announced €200 million to support counter-UAV efforts. Today, I announced another support package of €90 million for drones – both reconnaissance and strike,” Brekelmans said.
The Minister added that the Netherlands believes “Ukraine’s industry still has the capacity to produce more, and that is precisely why we are investing another €90 million in this.”
According to Brekelmans, Putin currently feels that he is winning with each passing day of continued Russian aggression against Ukraine, which is why Ukraine’s partners must ensure that the costs of this war for Russia continue to rise.
“This means a steady flow of aid, as well as long-term commitments to Ukraine in terms of military support,” the Minister emphasized.
He clarified that this concerns both bilateral agreements and broader projects “using other instruments, for example, frozen assets.”
Last week, it was reported that the Netherlands had allocated a €200 million aid package to procure counter-drone systems for Ukraine.
They are investing an additional €110 million in the joint production of long-range strike drones.
A Dutch Defense Cluster (DDC) – a defense technology cluster – has also been established in Ukraine to coordinate and support the activities of Dutch defense companies.
In addition, the Netherlands has ramped up large-scale production of ground and aerial drones, as well as military batteries, for both its own armed forces and for Ukraine.
