The Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the radar of a Russian S-400 air defense system in temporarily occupied Crimea.
The SOF Command reported this on Facebook.
It is reported that the strike on the invaders’ weaponry on the peninsula occurred during the night of September 30.
The destruction of a key component of the enemy’s air defense system was carried out using strike drones.
“It is symbolic that the enemy’s expensive air defense system, designed in part to counter UAVs, was neutralized by the SOF’s strike drones,” the Command noted.
The radar station is the “eyes” of the S-400 Triumf system. Without this surveillance and targeting element, the entire system loses its combat capability.
The Ukrainian special forces have not disclosed the exact model of the Russian radar station destroyed in occupied Crimea. They only stated that SOF units continue to inflict significant damage on the enemy.
In addition, as a result of a missile and drone strike on the night of September 21 in Crimea, an air defense radar station was destroyed, and a mobile Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile system was damaged.
