The Lithuanian government will allocate a financial package for the purchase of about 3,000 FPV drones to be transferred to Ukraine.

Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonite announced this during a video conference.

She noted the importance of helping Ukraine and emphasized that her country would join an international initiative to purchase FPV drones for Ukraine.

For this purpose, Lithuania will allocate about €2 million and will support the United Kingdom in this procurement, which will also purchase UAVs for Ukraine.

She also noted that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, her country had been trying its best to support Ukraine.

Between February 24, 2022, and 2024, her country transferred over €1 billion worth of aid to Ukraine.

She also noted that Lithuania had joined the Czech initiative to purchase artillery ammunition for Ukraine and had allocated €35 million.

Lithuania has thus become one of more than 15 countries to join this initiative, which will speed up the procurement and delivery of the shells to Ukraine.

Militarnyi previously reported that the UK, together with Latvia, would lead a Drone Coalition, under which Ukraine would receive drones worth $250 million.

Defence Secretary Grant Shapps announced on Thursday, February 15, that the United Kingdom, together with Latvia, would lead a major coalition to develop drones for Ukraine.

This is the first project to be launched from the £200 million ($250 million) drone package that the Prime Minister announced in January this year.

The UK will order thousands of FPV drones for Ukraine, including from UK manufacturers, providing a boost to the industry and delivering on the Prime Minister’s priority to grow the economy.
