The German government has prepared a new military aid package for Ukraine.

The announcement was made on the official website of the German government.

The new package is designed to strengthen Ukraine’s ground component. Some of the weapons are being transferred from the German Armed Forces.

Thus, the new package includes, as follows:

• one Beaver bridge-laying tank;
• 20 RQ-35 HEIDRUN reconnaissance drones and 20 VECTOR reconnaissance drones;
• 13 border protection vehicles;
• three truck tractor trains 8×8 HX81 and three semi-trailers.

In addition, the country has prepared 3,872 rounds 155mm smoke/illuminating ammunition.

The new package also includes three Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, which should strengthen Ukraine’s air defense, as well as ensure more effective destruction of cruise missiles and kamikaze drones.

As previously reported, Germany is preparing a large military aid package worth €1 billion to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense.

“Germany will continue to support Ukraine with what it needs most – air defense, ammunition and tanks. With this new ‘winter package’ we are further enhancing the operational readiness of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the coming months,” said Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

It should include Patriot, IRIS-T air defense systems and Gepard SPAAG to protect Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.

In October, Germany will hand over to Ukraine one IRIS-T SLM and one IRIS-T SLS system along with missiles.

As Militarnyi previously reported, U.S. President Joe Biden will ask Congress for additional funding for military assistance to Ukraine and Israel.

The request will include $60 billion for Ukraine and $14 billion for Israel.

According to journalists, the request will also cover $10 billion for humanitarian aid, $14 billion for border security (including reinforcement on the U.S. border with Mexico) and $7 billion for the Indo-Pacific region (probably for Taiwan).

It is reported that half of the $60 billion Biden is requesting for Ukraine would go toward replacing and modernizing U.S. weapons stocks.
