Poland told when Ukraine will receive the next batch of Leopard 2A4 tanks.

The head of the Polish Prime Minister’s Office, Michał Dworczyk, told the PAP agency that the next batch of the promised tanks is planned to be delivered within a few weeks.

According to him, this will happen once the Ukrainian tank crews complete training in Poland.

To the question when the next 10 promised Leopard 2A4 tanks would be delivered, Dworczyk replied:

“Soon. The training of Ukrainian crews must be completed. Some of these tanks are currently being used during training… This is a prospect for a few weeks,” he said.

He also said that Warsaw would soon hand over its other tanks to Ukraine.

Answering the question when the promised Polish PT-91 tanks would arrive in Ukraine, he said that their transfer together with the T-72 was also a matter of weeks “if not sooner”.

“They are practically in the process of transfer, so they will soon be in Ukraine,” Dworczyk added.

РТ-91 Twardy is the main battle tank of the Polish army. The tanks were made on the basis of a licensed version of the Soviet Т-72М1. Its first prototypes were manufactured in 1993. The basic version was mass produced at Bumar-Łabędy until 2002.

As previously reported, last Friday, on the anniversary of the Russian full-scale invasion, Poland handed over the first batch of four Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.

In total, the country pledged to transfer to Ukraine one Leopard 2 tank company, which is fourteen machines.

Training of Ukrainian crews on Leopard 2 has been ongoing for several weeks at the training ground in Świętoszów.

In the first half of February, Leopard 2A4 tanks arrived in Poland from Canada to be subsequently transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Along with the tanks, Canada will transfer ammunition and spare parts to Ukraine.

In addition, the Canadian military, together with Polish and Norwegian specialists, are training Ukrainian soldiers in Poland.
