Sweden will transfer military equipment and weapons to Ukraine as part of the previously announced aid package.

The corresponding government proposal was supported by the Swedish parliament – Riksdag.

This decision suggests the allocation of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of SEK 4.3 billion or $406.7 million.

The transfer of CV90 IFVs to the Armed Forces of Ukraine was also confirmed.

It is emphasized that Sweden will transfer to Ukraine the military equipment, without which the Swedish Armed Forces will be able to operate for a certain period of time.

In particular, this would mean anti-tank weapons, demining equipment, NLAW light anti-tank weapon systems (called Robot 57 in Sweden), and Swedish CV90 IFVs.

In January, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced that Sweden would provide Ukraine with its state-of-the-art artillery and armored vehicles.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive 155mm Archer wheeled ACSs, although Swedish officials did not disclose the exact number of self-propelled guns to be shipped to Ukraine.

Sweden will also transfer 50 CV90 infantry fighting vehicles. These will most likely be of CV9040 modification – the main type of IFVs in service with the Swedish Armed Forces.

Previously, Swedish Defence Minister Paul Johnson shared that Stockholm was considering handing over its Stridsvagn 122 tanks to Ukraine. This would be the Swedish version of the German Leopard 2A5 tank.

Germany and Sweden are negotiating a new military aid package for Ukraine.

According to the media, Germany requested that Sweden provide launchers for an IRIS-T-compatible anti-missile system.
