USA To Send HIMARS Rockets To Estonia, Without ATACMS For Now

A shipment of ammunition for the HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems is expected to arrive in Estonia shortly.

Hanno Pevkur, the country’s Minister of Defense, announced this, according to ERR.

Estonian specialists are currently in the United States, where they are preparing the rockets for shipment.

The transport of the ammunition to Estonia is expected to begin immediately after all procedures are completed, and the shipment could arrive as early as September.

The Estonian State Defense Investment Center signed the contract for the supply of HIMARS and their missiles in late 2022.

Estonia ordered munitions with a range of both 70 km (GMLRS) and 300 km (ATACMS ballistic missiles).

According to Pevkur, the U.S. is currently not transferring long-range missiles with a 300-km range to its allies due to the situation surrounding the war with Iran.

In April 2025, all six rocket launchers from the first contract arrived in Estonia.

This April, Estonia also signed a contract to purchase additional multiple launch rocket systems, scheduled to be delivered as early as next year.

The agreement reportedly calls for the purchase of three vehicles and ammunition, as well as an investment of about $11 million in the Estonian defense industry.

In addition, the American defense giant Lockheed Martin will build a HIMARS maintenance center in Estonia.

The new facility will become a key element of the infrastructure not only for Estonia but also for the entire Baltic region.
