The Ukrainian operational and tactical missile system (OTMS) was developed for two types of missiles.

This is evidenced by court materials on espionage in favor of Russia, which were published in the program of the “There are questions” YouTube channel.

The case in question is that of Rezeda Perkova, an engineer at the Dnipro Pivdenne Design Bureau, who was detained in September 2022 and charged with treason.

According to the investigation, the woman passed classified information to an FSS officer. Among other things, the Russians were interested in Ukraine’s operational and tactical missile capabilities and the potential for their use against the invaders.

Thus, two days after the Ukrainian strike on the military airfield in Novofedorivka in temporarily occupied Crimea, in August 2022, the curator instructed Perkova to investigate the status of the Ukrainian ballistic missile development and whether these were the missiles that Ukraine used to strike the Russian base.

The next day, Rezeda replied that the creation of the Ukrainian operational and tactical missile involved the use of two types of missiles: one with a diameter of 900 mm and a range of 500 km, and another with a diameter of 600 mm and a range of 280 km.

It is worth noting that the 280 km missile version’s range is due to the possibility of selling such missiles to foreign customers in accordance with international agreements.

The 500-kilometer version was intended for use by the Ukrainian army, with no right to export. This range would have enabled the Defense Forces to strike deep into the Russian rear.

Rezeda Perkova is accused of passing information to Russian special services not only about missiles, but also about the location of military units, strategic industries, and engineering research and development of the defense industry.

The successful test of a Ukrainian ballistic missile was reported in August 2024.

“There was a positive test of the first Ukrainian ballistic missile,” the President of Ukraine reported during the “Ukraine 2024. Independence” forum.

No technical details about the Ukrainian ballistic missile are currently known, but it is likely to be a continuation of the Sapsan/Hrim-2 project. According to Herman Smetanin, Minister of Strategic Industries, Ukraine uses ballistic missiles every month.
