Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SOF) have carried out a series of precision strikes on strategic targets deep inside Russia, hitting two oil refining facilities.

The strikes were reported on the SOF’s social media pages.

One of the targets was the Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant in the Russia’s Republic of Bashkortostan, more than 1,300 km from the Ukrainian border.

The plant is a key producer of components for aviation fuel, rubber, and the antioxidant ionol, all of strategic importance to Russia’s defense industry.

SOF units, in coordination with the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) and the Unmanned Systems Forces, also struck the Nizhny Novgorod Oil Refinery — one of Russia’s largest, with a capacity of about 17 million tons of oil per year.

The refinery produces diesel, gasoline, aviation kerosene, and other petroleum products, supplying the Moscow region via direct pipelines.

This marks the third successful strike on the plant in 2025.

The destruction was reported on the morning of November 4, with local authorities confirming explosions and damage on the plant’s territory.

In an evening briefing, the General Staff of Ukraine confirmed the effectiveness of the SOF strikes and provided additional details from the preceding days.

In the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region, a fuel and lubricants warehouse was destroyed: around 20 elastic tanks with a total volume of roughly 900 m³ of fuel, along with two pumping stations, burned down.

It was also reported that Ukrainian strike drones targeted the Saratov Oil Refinery on the night of November 2-3, one of Russia’s largest refineries.

The drone strike hit the AVT-6 installation, which is responsible for desalination and primary oil fractionation, one of the refinery’s most critical units.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to systematically strike Russia’s fuel infrastructure, undermining its defense-industrial capabilities and the logistics supporting invasion forces.
