In eastern Ukraine, the military disabled a Russian 2S4 Tyulpan heavy mortar.

A frame with a burning self-propelled mortar was published by Alex Guc, Ukrainian military.

It is reported that this 240mm mortar shelled Ukrainian positions in the Maryinka area of the Donetsk region. This self-propelled mortar as a whole is a powerful weapon, even when using conventional ammunition.

Presumably, the self-propelled system was hit with explosives, which were dropped from a drone, and not during the counter-fire.

This is also evidenced by the fact that the frame was taken from an unmanned vehicle.

The shared photo showcased the burning seats of the driver and commander.

The engine is on the left side, which is also likely affected.

Despite the fact that the ammo and cannon were still intact, the self-propelled mortar was most likely disabled.

These 2S4 Tyulpan heavy mortars are actively used in Russian propaganda videos as “scary” weapons.

They also were used by the Russian military during the assault on the Lugansk airport in 2014 and during the assault on the Azovstal plant during the battles for Mariupol in 2022.

But from time to time, the Ukrainian military manages to destroy these systems.

Recall that in November, north of the village of Pshenychne, in the Luhansk region, a unit of the 44th Artillery Brigade hit the Russian 2S4 heavy 240mm self-propelled mortar. In May, these systems were also destroyed in the city of Rubizhne.
