Ukrainian intelligence has named the Russian who prepared cruise missiles for the strike on the National Specialized Children’s Hospital “Okhmatdyt” in Kyiv a year ago.
The press service of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine published information about a serviceman of the aggressor country’s army.
They reported that one of those responsible for preparing the massive missile strike on Ukraine on July 8, 2024 – including the attack on the children’s hospital – was Major Denys Oleksiiovych Sheynov, chief of the special engineering service of the 121st Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment of the 22nd Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Division of the Russian Armed Forces.
It is noted that this particular unit was directly involved in the terrorist attack on the medical facility, where 627 children were undergoing treatment at the time of the strike.
“Major Sheynov, in his capacity as the chief of the special engineering service, was responsible for organizing the technical preparation of Kh-101 air-launched cruise missiles for deployment by strategic aviation aircraft,” the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported.
Sheynov was born on January 30, 1978, in Saratov and holds a passport (series 6302, number 906672) issued by the Internal Affairs Department of the Kirovsky District of Saratov on March 15, 2002.
He graduated from the Saratov Higher Military Engineering Command School of the Missile Forces in 2000. According to intelligence, in 2018, Sheynov carried out “special missions” in the Syrian Arab Republic and has received several awards – including the Medal “For Military Valor” (2nd Class, 2000), the Medal “For Distinction in Military Service” (1st Class, 2015), and the Medal “Participant in the Military Operation in Syria” (2019).
Major Sheynov is married to Elena Shabalova, born on April 30, 1976. They have a son and a daughter.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine also has the home address of the Sheynov family — Saratov, Saratov Oblast, Batavina Street, Building 12, Apartment 266.
As a result of this missile strike, eight children at Okhmatdyt were injured, and two adults were killed. A few days later, a young boy who had been in the hospital’s intensive care unit during the attack passed away.
The Kh-101 cruise missile that struck Ukraine’s largest children’s hospital was manufactured just a few weeks – or possibly even days – before the attack.
Russian Tu-95MSM and Tu-160 strategic bombers are the carriers of this type of missile.
