The Ukrainian Defense Forces attacked a power substation in temporarily occupied Melitopol that enemy forces were using.

The local Srochno Zaporizhzhia Telegram channel reported the incident.

Following the overnight strike on April 14, 2026, the city experienced a power outage. Shortly before the attack, a drone alert had been issued over the area.

Photos of the damaged facility have also been published online, showing a fire that broke out on the site.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces carry out such strikes on energy infrastructure to systematically weaken the enemy’s capabilities.

Such operations primarily cut power to the invaders’ barracks and disrupt the functioning of headquarters and radars. These strikes effectively disorganize key elements of the enemy’s infrastructure.

Such attacks occur regularly. For example, in October 2025, strike drones from the 422nd Battalion of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces hit energy facilities in occupied Berdiansk and Melitopol that were being used by Russian forces for military purposes.
