Ukrainian troops repelled a Russian assault involving a column of motorcycles in the Sumy region, according to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The attack near the village of Oleksiivka was stopped by the soldiers from the 71st Jaeger Brigade, supported by nearby units.
The Russian military reportedly attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses using a combination of motorcycle-mounted troops and infantry, relying on speed and numerical advantage.
However, Ukrainian reconnaissance drones tracked the movement of the column and adjusted fire on the advancing units.
“Nothing went according to their plan. No maneuver goes unnoticed — reconnaissance sees everything,” Ukrainian soldiers said.
The first wave of the motorcyclists met concentrated drone resistance, and vehicles were destroyed, creating obstacles for subsequent units.
Ukrainian forces used FPV drones, aerial-dropped munitions, and coordinated strikes to halt the assault.
“Those who survived scattered but were eliminated,” the military added.
The clash occurred near the temporarily occupied village of Oleksiivka, close to Andriivka in the Sumy region.
The troops from the 225th Separate Assault Battalion recently retook Andriivka, located roughly five kilometers from the Russian border.
Ukrainian officials say the advance helped prevent further Russian movement toward the nearby towns of Khotyn and Pysarivka.
Following the liberation of Andriivka, Ukrainian forces launched an assault toward Yunakivka. Over the past week, they advanced between 200 and 700 meters, depending on the sector, pushing Russian forces out of some positions.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said earlier this week that the advance of Russian troops in the Sumy region had been halted and the frontline had stabilized.
