A Ukrainian drone strike on the Russian 126th Coastal Defence Brigade in Perevalne, in Russian-occupied Crimea, destroyed an ammunition depot and four buildings, according to independent media outlet ASTRA, citing its own sources.
More than 2,000 local residents were reportedly evacuated from the surrounding area, although local authorities did not issue an official evacuation notice.
Evacuees were temporarily housed in camps in the nearby village of Dobre. The Simferopol-Alushta road was reportedly blocked following the incident.
Several service members from the brigade were reportedly injured. There were no confirmed reports of civilian casualties.
The strike, believed to have been carried out using kamikaze drones, was first reported on May 16.
In addition to the 126th Coastal Defence Brigade (military unit 12676), the 8th Separate Artillery Regiment (military unit 87714) is also stationed in Perevalne.
It is possible that the strike affected this unit as well, either directly or due to secondary detonations.
On the same day, explosions were reported in several other locations across Crimea, including Yalta, Gurzuf, Alupka, and Alushta.
Russian side claimed that 43 Ukrainian drones had been shot down over the Black Sea, and another 21 over the occupied peninsula.
On May 1, the Prymary special unit reportedly used strike drones to hit Russian air defense systems in occupied Crimea.
One drone targeted a logistics truck near a wooded area, while another struck an ST-68 radar station, which is designed to detect and track low-altitude targets.
Footage from the operation also showed a Kasta 2E2 radar system.
