The Ukrainian company OM Defence Systems has presented “smart” SPECTR decoy drones.
The drone was presented at the Eurosatory exhibition, which Militarnyi’s correspondent attended.
This automated unmanned aerial vehicle, operating on a “press-and-fly” principle, is specifically designed to deceive, distract, and exhaust an adversary’s air defense resources.
The drone is autonomous, resistant to electronic warfare interference, cost-optimized, and based on a modern software platform.
The SPECTR system overloads and depletes ground-based air defense assets by creating a pronounced radar signature that forces the enemy to respond and expend missiles.
The system package includes a device for generating a false radar target, a carrier drone, and a launch system.
The drone has dimensions of 1400 × 2690 × 400 mm, a maximum takeoff weight of 12 kg, and is built in a lightweight PVC (polyvinyl chloride) airframe.
The system’s key feature is an adjustable 1.2 kg microwave corner reflector operating in the 3–20 GHz range.
It allows operators to vary the radar cross-section from 1 m² to over 10 m², enabling simulation of different types of real aerial targets across multiple radar frequency bands.
The drone has a flight range of up to 500 km and an endurance of up to 240 minutes (4 hours). It can reach speeds exceeding 120 km/h.
The operational altitude ceiling ranges from 500 to 5,000 meters. The drone is resistant to crosswinds of up to 10 m/s and can operate in a wide temperature range from –20°C to +60°C.
Navigation is carried out in automatic and inertial modes, as well as using GPS.
