Ukrainian forces have received the Kaban remote-control system, which converts vehicles into unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs).

The developer told Militarnyi that the systems were delivered to Ukraine’s 3rd Army Corps, 429th Achilles Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade, and 49th Brigade.

Kaban is a comprehensive remote vehicle-control system that can be installed on various civilian and military vehicles without modifying their design.

The platform allows operators to quickly switch between remote and manual control. Its primary communications channel is Starlink, while it also supports analog video transmission with radio control. If communications are lost, Kaban automatically brings the UGV to an emergency stop.

Kaban features a built-in digital map that allows operators to create routes and mark locations, as well as a “driver assistant” that displays the vehicle’s projected trajectory.

The manufacturer states that the vehicle carrying the remote-control system can also be equipped with infrared cameras, spotlights, net launchers, and drone-launching platforms.

The company’s director and lead developer, Davyd, said the system’s main goal is to reduce the number of situations in which military personnel must be physically present on the most dangerous sections of routes.

Vehicles equipped with the system can be used for evacuation, cargo delivery, supplying positions, and other logistical tasks at the front.

“Since 2022, our companies have been working on technologies that help save the lives of Ukrainian service members and can already be used at the front. We started with the Angel Arrow and Lucky Strike unmanned systems, and now we are developing solutions not only for the air but also for the ground,” PG Robotics co-founder Vladyslav Plaksin shared.

Kaban is being developed with the support of the Brave1 defense technology cluster and, according to the manufacturer, has been used successfully in combat operations.

Ukrainian Defense Forces units interested in the remote vehicle-control system can contact the developer through its official website.

A similar practice of converting vehicles into unmanned systems is being tested in the United States, where a Ford F-250-based UGV has been equipped with a turret-mounted automatic shotgun for countering UAVs.
