The production of electronic warfare (EW) equipment in Ukraine has increased 340 times compared to previous years.

This was announced by the Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Herman Smetanin at the Ukrainian Weapons 2024 briefing, which was attended by a Militarnyi correspondent.

The increase in production by more than 300 times is the reason for the prevalence of these weapons on the battlefield, as the role of drones has increased significantly, and Ukrainian defenders need means to counter them.

To date, both state and private entities have been involved in the production of electronic warfare systems, producing a variety of these devices: from infantry and trench weapons to more powerful systems that are installed on vehicles and other platforms.

In addition, Ukraine has developed the Lima electronic warfare system, which is capable of throwing Russian precision-guided bombs with the UMPK planning module off course by interrupting their satellite communications.

According to former German Federal Ministry of Defense official Nico Lange, Ukraine has managed to make a real breakthrough in the field of electronic warfare systems, and the products currently being used at the front surpass the capabilities of both Russian and Western systems.

In general, according to Deputy Prime Minister for Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, more than 140 companies in Ukraine currently manufacture electronic warfare (EW) equipment for the military.

“When Brave1 started working in this area, there were about ten electronic warfare solutions in Ukraine. Now, more than 140 companies are engaged in their production,” said Fedorov.

For example, in 2024, 90 Ai-Petri SV countermeasures systems were handed over to the troops.

The system consists of an electronic warfare station, a modern radar station and an anti-drone device.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported that since January 2024, the Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has signed contracts for the supply of electronic warfare (EW) equipment for more than UAH 6 billion.

In total, more than 11,000 electronic warfare systems have been contracted. Most of the systems have already been transferred to the Armed Forces.
