The Ukrainian Armed Forces are building a continuous defense line along the border with Belarus and Russia, stretching from the Kyiv Reservoir to the city of Sumy.

Vasyl Syrotenko, Chief of the Engineering Troops of the Support Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported on this in an interview with Ukrinform.

“We are devoting significant resources specifically to ensure this line is built as quickly as possible,” he added.

According to Syrotenko, this is being done to prevent the enemy from establishing a so-called buffer zone in this area and pushing the Defense Forces back from the state border.

The defense line is being built not only within the 20 km frontline zone but also up to 100 km beyond it. New countermeasures against FPV drones are also being implemented on fiber-optic cables.

Previously, a bill was introduced in the Italian Senate to establish a state mechanism for transferring decommissioned fishing nets to Ukraine to protect against Russian drones.

The initiative calls for creating a mechanism to encourage companies to transfer decommissioned nets rather than dispose of them.
