Ukrainian Armed Forces Receive Australian 30-mm Slinger Anti-Drone Modules

The Ukrainian military has received and is already deploying Australian Slinger C-UAS remotely controlled anti-drone modules.

The anti-drone system was developed and is manufactured by the Australian company Electro Optic Systems.

The Slinger system is based on the 30-mm Bushmaster M230LF automatic cannon and is equipped with a modern optoelectronic targeting system along with a radar.

The module is capable of detecting and engaging aerial targets, such as kamikaze drones and reconnaissance UAVs, at ranges exceeding 800 meters using specialized 30-mm ammunition with radio-controlled fuses.

Thanks to its low weight (about 355 kg), the system is highly mobile and can be integrated onto various types of platforms.

In Ukraine, Slinger combat modules are mounted on pickup trucks, creating mobile fire teams to shoot down enemy drones.

In addition to wheeled vehicles, the Australian systems can also be integrated onto light armored vehicles and armored personnel carriers to protect units on the front lines.

In 2023, it was reported that Electro Optic Systems will supply 160 such anti-drone modules to Ukraine.

110 systems were to be integrated onto M113s, and another 50 were ordered by the company Praktika.

As early as October, the company prepared the first batch of Slinger systems for shipment to Ukraine.

A batch of ten systems was to be delivered to Ukraine by the end of the year.
