The Ministries of Defense of Ukraine and Saudi Arabia have signed a defense cooperation agreement.

In Jeddah, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, where they discussed building a mutually beneficial partnership.

The leaders primarily focused on ways to strengthen both Ukraine and Saudi Arabia.

“Our country is open to supporting those who support us,” Zelensky said.

The details of the agreement have not been disclosed. The document is reported to lay the groundwork for future contracts, technological cooperation, and investments, while also strengthening Ukraine’s international role as a security provider.

“Our country will use its experience and technology to help Saudi Arabia strengthen its capabilities to counter aerial threats,” the statement said.

Saudi Arabia is currently facing frequent attacks by drones from Iran-backed forces. It is possible that the cooperation specifically involves systems for intercepting hostile drones. Earlier, it was reported that oil giant Saudi Aramco is interested in purchasing Ukrainian interceptor drones by SkyFall and Wild Hornets.
