The 15th Separate Artillery Reconnaissance Brigade Black Forest struck a MiG-29 fighter jet and a Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system at the Russian Khalino airfield in the Kursk region.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which also published video footage of the strikes.

The released footage shows that Ukrainian defenders used strike drones to destroy the enemy’s military equipment.

The strikes were recorded by a reconnaissance UAV that was flying over the Russian airbase during the operation.

The footage shows the drone approaching one of the two combat aircraft parked side by side and exploding.

After that, the Pantsir-S1 air defense system appears in the camera’s viewfinder of another strike drone and destroys it. The system was in a combat position and was intended to defend the aggressor country’s airfield against UAVs and cruise missiles.

The General Staff called this operation a success but did not specify the extent of damage to the enemy fighter jet and the air defense system. It is possible that the Russians were using these MiG-29s to intercept Ukrainian long-range kamikaze drones flying to strike key targets deep behind Russian lines.

The Khalino airfield is located seven kilometers east of the city of Kursk. It is home to the 14th Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 105th Mixed Aviation Division of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

This is not the first strike by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on this facility. In 2025, an aircraft weapons depot was destroyed on the airfield’s grounds. Also, in 2023, this airfield was attacked by kamikaze drones.
