UK Studies Ukraine’s Experience to Improve Body Armor

The United Kingdom is studying Ukraine’s experience to improve body armor for its military, including feedback from female service members.

This was reported by the UK Defence Journal.

In response to a written request from Conservative MP Richard Holden, the British government confirmed that procurement bodies are cooperating with personnel from the INTERFLEX training mission to collect the combat experience of Ukrainian troops.

The Ministry of Defence said procurement specialists are working closely with the team responsible for processing and analyzing feedback from service members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

These materials include lessons learned from combat and feedback from female service members, which are being used to develop new capabilities for the British military.

This experience is being used to update personal protective equipment, particularly under the Tactical Ballistic Plates project aimed at improving body armor for the British military.

At the end of 2023, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense certified the first body armor designed for female service members. The main design features were a curved armor plate, narrowed shoulders and a widened lower section corresponding to the anatomical features of the female body.

In March 2025, the first military uniform designed specifically for women in modern Ukraine was unveiled.
