U.S. military forces have amassed troops and equipment near Venezuela to support a potential Marine landing.
This is evidenced by satellite images published by well-known analyst MT Anderson on his X page.
A group of U.S. naval vessels has been spotted in the Caribbean Sea, primarily consisting of large amphibious assault ships.
A satellite image dated September 29 confirms the presence in the region of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD-7) and a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock, both used to transport U.S. Marine Corps expeditionary forces.
Specifically, the USS Iwo Jima was spotted approximately 70 kilometers west of the island of Montserrat.
The ships are accompanied by the Ticonderoga-class USS Lake Erie (CG-70) guided missile cruiser and a U.S. Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer.
As of September 28, the group of American naval vessels in the Caribbean Basin was located approximately 700 kilometers north of Caracas, Venezuela’s capital.
Previously, media reports revealed that the United States is considering the possibility of conducting airstrikes against drug cartels on Venezuelan territory.
As part of the anti-cartel operation, U.S. F-35 fighter jets have already been deployed in Puerto Rico.
The Americans have also deployed a secret special operations forces vessel near Venezuela, used as a floating base for conducting special missions.
In addition, U.S. forces are targeting and destroying vessels transporting narcotics from Venezuela.
The first destroyed vessel was reported on September 2, and the second incident took place on September 16.
