The United States struck a vessel carrying drugs from Venezuela.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reported this.

According to Rubio, the vessel was destroyed in the southern Caribbean basin and was linked to a local drug terrorist organization.

Details about the weaponry used in the strike have not been disclosed, and it remains unclear whether any crew members survived.

Meanwhile, the flight tracking service Flightradar24 recorded an MH-60S Knighthawk helicopter circling near the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico, a U.S. island territory.

The vessel was likely destroyed precisely in this area, and the helicopter is conducting search and rescue operations.

On August 20, it was reported that the United States deployed three Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers to the coasts of Venezuela to combat drug cartels.

The ships will remain in the region for several months, after which a rotation is planned.

Simultaneously with the deployment of the American ships, Latin American countries reacted sharply to the move by U.S. President Donald Trump. Venezuela expressed particularly strong opposition and plans to mobilize a 4.5 million-strong militia.
