Ukrainian border guards detected and eliminated a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group (SRG) near Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGSU) reported the incident and published video footage.

The Russians operated in a small group and attempted to advance covertly toward Ukrainian positions.

“The occupiers once again tried their favorite tactic: sneaking into the area of our positions in small groups, quickly taking a photo with a rag, and reporting their ‘successes,’” the border guards noted.

The saboteurs were detected by UAV operators from the Apex unit of the Forpost brigade, after which three border guards set out to search for them.

During the assault, Russian soldiers took cover and put up resistance. Ukrainian fighters engaged them in a firefight and used grenades, while drone operators dropped munitions on the occupiers’ position.

The border guards urged the Russians to surrender, but they refused to lay down their arms.

After the drone strikes, the occupiers attempted to leave their cover but were unable to escape.

The fighting for Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region has been ongoing for more than two years. Russian occupation forces continue to launch assaults in the area, seeking to advance and expand their control zone around the destroyed city.
