The city of Miami is handing over the firearms bought from the Americans to Irpin

The American city of Miami will transfer 167 firearms to Irpin, Kyiv region.

This was announced by Oleksandr Markushyn, Mayor of Irpin, on Telegram.

Small arms purchased from the Americans will be dispatched to Ukraine this week.

Markushyn emphasized that “this is a precedent in the history of international partnership between Ukraine and the USA.”

According to him, the legal procedures for the transfer of weapons are now being completed. The relevant licenses and necessary permits were already obtained.

“In spring, we appealed to our international partners to assist in our fight against the Russian aggressor. In June, in response to the request, with the initiative of Miami Police Commissioner Ken Russell, a campaign under the name “Guns 4 Ukraine” to purchase guns from citizens was run.

“Those who wish to hand in unneeded weapons were offered a monetary reward in the amount of 50 to 200 dollars per unit,” the mayor said.

Miami police added the confiscated weapons to the purchased guns and assault rifles.

According to Markushyn, the small arms that the Ukrainian city will receive from Miami will be handed over to the Irpin policemen and territorial defense fighters.

The mayor noted, “in fact, today we are developing a model according to which, I sincerely believe, in the future, Irpin and other cities of Ukraine will be able to receive weapons for their defense. In particular, negotiations are ongoing with the city of Houston.”

As previously reported, in May, the United States handed over 21 armored vehicles to the Ukrainian Border Guards and National Police to protect and transport personnel.

Vehicles are designed for the protection of law enforcement personnel.
