The Swedish Armed Forces will receive Polish-made Piorun man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS), the Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) said.

The contract was signed with Mesko, part of the Polish PGZ state defense group.

The value of the deal for an undisclosed number of systems is about SEK 3 billion (€270 million).

In March 2025, FMV announced it had signed a letter of intent with the manufacturer for a potential purchase.

According to the statement, a small initial order was placed in July and has now been followed by the main contract.

Deliveries to the Swedish Army are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026 and be completed in 2027.
