UK company Cambridge Aerospace unveiled in Prague the Starhammer interceptor missile, designed to destroy cruise missiles.
A Militarnyi correspondent examined the missile during the Future Forces Exhibition & Forum, which took place in Czechia.
The missile’s engagement range exceeds 20 kilometers, and its maximum interception altitude is up to 10 kilometers.
These characteristics correspond to the capabilities of short- and medium-range air defense systems.
They cover most of the flight altitudes and ranges of cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The Starhammer is capable of speeds exceeding Mach 2. The missile is 2.8 meters long, with a wingspan of 0.41 meters.
Its high speed allows it to reduce the time required to intercept a target and engage even high-speed aerial objects.
The guidance system combines an inertial navigation system with a data link (INS/datalink) and an active radar homing seeker.
In the terminal phase of its flight path, the missile uses its own radar seeker, which independently detects the target and guides the missile toward it.
Starhammer is equipped with a solid-fuel rocket motor.
Cambridge Aerospace developed its own propulsion system for this missile.
Previously, the United Kingdom ordered low-cost Skyhammer missiles from Cambridge Aerospace for intercepting drones.
