Drones operated by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) struck the Moscow Oil Refinery, located in the Kapotnya district of the Russian capital.

SSU press service reported on this, and ASTRA media confirmed damage to the facility.

A video of the drone’s impact on the refinery was recorded in the third quarter of the Kapotnya district.

Earlier, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said a shift of construction workers was injured in the enterprise’s transit area as a result of the attack. According to him, a total of 12 people were injured.

The Moscow Oil Refinery in Kapotnya was previously targeted by drones on the night of September 1, 2024.

At that time, the Euro+ unit, with a capacity of 6 million tons per year, was damaged at the facility, accounting for about half of the refinery’s processing capacity.

In October 2024, anti-drone protective nets were installed at the facility to strengthen its defenses.

The Kapotnya refinery is one of the ten largest oil refineries in Russia and supplies about 40% of the Moscow region’s demand for petroleum products.

The current capacity of the Moscow refinery is 11 million tons of oil per year.

The facility is considered one of the most compact refineries of its class, covering 284 hectares.

The production includes more than 30 processing units for various purposes, including catalytic and thermal cracking, as well as reforming.

The refinery produces gasoline grades AI-80EK, AI-92EK, and AI-95EK, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, bitumen, sulfur, and various polymers.

The plant is connected to the main oil pipelines from Western Siberia and Tatarstan, as well as to a system of product pipelines for transporting gasoline, aviation kerosene, and diesel fuel.

In addition, there are four storage tanks at the facility, each with a capacity of 50,000 tons of oil.

It was recently reported that strike drones hit the Solnechnogorsk oil filling station in the village of Durikino, located approximately 40-45 kilometers from Moscow.
