Russian Mi-8 Entered Polish Airspace — Fighter Jets Were Scrambled

A Russian Mi-8 military helicopter violated Polish airspace.

The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces reported this.

The violation occurred at 11:08 a.m. north of the Polish city of Branewo. The Russian Armed Forces helicopter was flying from the Kaliningrad region. It remained in Polish airspace for 42 seconds.

“It violated Polish airspace to a maximum depth of about 300 meters and remained there for 42 seconds,” the command reported.

Polish radar systems tracked the helicopter’s flight.

Fighter jets were scrambled, and ground forces and assets were placed on alert.

“The nature of the incident indicates that Russia is once again testing the readiness of our air defense system,” the command noted.

Russia has already violated Polish airspace several times this year with drones and missiles.

On September 14, a Russian drone carrying a warhead was discovered in the Baltic Sea near a beach in the Rusinowo area of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship.
