The Russian drone discovered off the Baltic Sea coast near Rusinów was equipped with a warhead.
Bartosz Okoniewski, deputy district prosecutor for military affairs in Poznań, according to Radio Poznań.
The deputy district prosecutor noted that a high-explosive fragmentation warhead weighing about 4 kg, complete with a detonator, was found inside the drone.
The drone was inspected by a prosecutor from the Military Affairs Department of the Szczecin-Nebuszewo District Prosecutor’s Office, with the participation of the Military Counterintelligence Service, military and police bomb disposal experts, the military police, and a fire department team.
The munition was separated from the drone and, for safety reasons, neutralized directly on the beach, while the drone itself was seized for further laboratory analysis.
According to preliminary findings, the drone was identified as a Russian Gerbera 2 UAV.
The circumstances surrounding how the UAV reached the Polish coast are still being investigated.
Military and hydrographic services detected the drone on September 14 in the Baltic Sea near a beach in the Rusinowo area of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship.
Following an initial inspection, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz reported that it was a Russian military drone.
In the footage released at the time, the drone resembled a Gerbera with its nose section torn off.
According to a preliminary assessment by the Polish Ministry of Defense, Russia may have lost it during maneuvers over the Baltic Sea.
