Russian Major General Anton Grunis Killed Under Unknown Circumstances

Major General Anton Grunis, commander of Russia’s 4th Motor Rifle Brigade, was killed in Russia under unknown circumstances.

The Telegram channel Suvorovskoye Bratstvo reported this, noting that he graduated from the Kazan Suvorov Military School.

Under his command, Russian invading forces operated in the Bakhmut and Kostiantynivka sectors of the Donetsk region.
The 4th Motor Rifle Brigade (military unit No. 40318) was established in 2014 from armed formations of the so-called “Luhansk People’s Republic,” including the Prizrak combat unit.

After these formations were integrated into the Russian Armed Forces, the brigade was incorporated into the 2nd Army Corps and later became part of the newly created 3rd Guards Combined Arms Army of Russia’s Southern Military District.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, units of the 4th Brigade have fought in the Luhansk region, including near Toshkivka and Hirskе.

They were later redeployed to the Donetsk region, where they conducted prolonged assaults in the Bakhmut sector, near Chasiv Yar and on the approaches to Kostiantynivka.
