Russian L-39 Aircraft Crashed in Krasnodar Krai

An L-39 training aircraft belonging to the Russian Aerospace Forces crashed in Krasnodar Krai.

This was reported by Russian propagandist Fighterbomber on his Telegram channel.

According to him, the crew was flying at low altitude.

L-39s remain one of the main single-engine jet trainers used by the Russian Aerospace Forces, though they are being phased out in favor of the more modern Yak-130s. According to The Military Balance 2026, Russia operates 87 aircraft of this type, with four serving in the Russian Navy’s naval aviation.

In Krasnodar Krai, where the aircraft crashed, the Russian Air Force concentrates the majority of these aircraft at the Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots. The aircraft are part of the 761st Training Aviation Regiment flying L-39Cs at Khansk Air Base, as well as the 644th Training Aviation Regiment in Michurinsk.

According to available information, units such as the 713th Training Aviation Regiment are already using Yak-130 aircraft, having transitioned to them from the L-39C.
