Russia may announce a new large-scale wave of mobilization this fall due to the protracted hostilities and the lack of significant progress on the front lines in Ukraine.
Andrey Gurulev, a State Duma deputy from the United Russia party and a former member of the Defense and Security Committee, announced these intentions of the aggressor country’s military and political leadership, according to The Moscow Times.
According to Gurulev, the issue of additional manpower conscription has already been effectively decided in the “upper echelons” of the Russian government.
“There is now active discussion in the corridors of power and high-level offices about the need for a new large-scale mobilization. Moreover, informed sources say that a fundamental decision on this has already been made and it will take place in the fall,” the State Duma deputy stated.
At the same time, the invaders’ representative acknowledges that the next phase of conscription will not allow the Russian Federation’s army to change the situation on the battlefield due to the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ technological superiority in drones. He emphasized that Ukrainian drones are “picking off the infantry” on the approaches, preventing assault groups from “raising their heads,” and have “literally overwhelmed” both the front lines and the immediate rear.
The Russian lawmaker predicts that without resolving the issue with Ukrainian UAVs, the deployment of new conscripts will only increase the number of Russian casualties.
“We will simply see a multiple increase in casualties,” Gurulev stated, adding that the current situation for the occupying forces has reached a dead end.
