During an attack on the Odesa region, Russia used Shahed drones to strike the Tabaky international border crossing on the Ukrainian border with Moldova.
The incident was reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
As a result of the occupiers’ attack, part of the border crossing’s infrastructure was destroyed.
The strike took place on the night of August 21. Russian drones attacked the Bolhrad and Izmaiil districts of the Odesa region.
The buildings and facilities at the border crossing were damaged. Fires that broke out following the attack were brought under control by Ukraine’s State Emergency Service personnel.
Border guards reported that the movement of vehicles and people through the Tabaky border crossing has been temporarily suspended. Vehicles are being redirected to other checkpoints. Moldova has also been informed of the situation.
This is not the first time that Russian forces have attacked border crossings along the Ukrainian-Moldovan border.
On August 20, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported that during a massive attack on the Odesa region, Russian drones also struck one of the checkpoints.
At the time, one of the UAVs crashed and caught fire in Romania, not far from the Ukrainian border.
