At around 12:50 p.m., eyewitnesses reported a strike near the border crossing on the Ukrainian-Polish border, in the direction of the Polish city of Chełm.

Eyewitnesses at the scene told Militarnyi about the incident.

Meanwhile, Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, told Militarnyi that the border infrastructure was not hit in the attack.

“Fortunately, the border infrastructure, including the checkpoint, was not struck,” Demchenko said.

The aftermath of the strike and the type of weapon used are currently being clarified. The Yahodyn border crossing in Ukraine’s Volyn region is the largest crossing on the border with Poland in terms of throughput.

Militarnyi previously reported that Russian strike drones attacked the area around the border crossing on September 13. The incident set fire to a nearby gas station and several trucks.

During the same attack near Yahodyn, a drone struck the locomotive of a Kyiv–Warsaw passenger train, which was about two kilometers from the Polish border. No one was killed or injured.
