Russia has more than doubled the production rate of target missiles used by occupation forces to strike ground targets in Ukraine.

This information was published by Ukrainska Pravda, citing an official response from the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.

According to intelligence data, the aggressor country’s defense industry has significantly increased production of RM-48U strike missiles.

These weapons are designed for use with S-300PM and S-400 air defense missile systems.

In 2026, the Russian leadership planned to produce over 480 units of such missiles.

For comparison, throughout 2025, the production figure for these weapons was over 200 units. Thus, annual production volumes have more than doubled.

The RM-48U missile is a specialized upgrade of the standard 48N6 family of anti-aircraft guided missiles, which were developed to intercept aerial targets.

They are equipped with a high-explosive fragmentation warhead weighing approximately 150–180 kg.

On the night of June 2, Russian invaders used a record number of ballistic missiles to strike Ukraine.

In total, during the massive strike, the invaders launched 33 ballistic missiles from the Bryansk, Kursk, and Rostov regions, as well as from the temporarily occupied Crimea.

According to the Colonel GSh Telegram channel, some of the missiles are RM-48U.

“About half of the 33 9M723 missiles (from the Iskander-M system) will turn out to be RM-48U air defense missiles; the first few have already been found,” he added.
