Robert “Magyar” Brovdi to lead the Unmanned Systems Forces

According to a decree of the President of Ukraine, Major Robert “Magyar” Brovdi, commander of the 414th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade, has been appointed head of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The relevant Decree was published on the President’s website.

He will replace Colonel Vadym Sukharevskyi in this position.

It is not yet known who will replace Magyar as commander of the 414th Brigade.

“To appoint Brovdi Robert Yosypovych as the Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” reads Presidential Decree No. 386/2025 of June 3, 2025.

Robert Brovdi has been in military service since Liutyi 2022. He began his service as a soldier with the Obolon Battalion of the Territorial Defense Forces. Prior to that, as part of the 206th TDF, he participated in the evacuation of people from Irpin, Bucha, and Borodyanka settlements.

Later, he became a platoon commander of the second assault company of the 206th TDF, which fought under the command of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kherson sector.

The unit, commanded by Robert Brovdi, was named Magyar’s Birds. Then it was transformed first into a battalion, then a regiment, and then a brigade.

In fact, the unit went through this entire path of scaling up in 2024, changing subordination from a tactical group as part of the territorial defense forces, then the Land Forces as part of the 59th separate motorized infantry brigade, and then the 414th separate battalion of unmanned systems of the Marines.

On January 16, 2024, Robert Brovdi reported that the unit had fought for 692 days and went through battles for Kherson, Krynky (Kherson region), Soledar, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Mariinka (Donetsk region) and Urozhayne (Zaporizhzhia region). 16 service members of the unit received the Order of Courage.

On May 8, 2025, Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to Major Robert Brovdi, commander of the 414th separate brigade of the Magyar Birds.
