Madyar’s Birds Regiment Expanded to Brigade

Ukraine’s 414th Separate Regiment of Strike Unmanned Aircraft Systems “Madyar’s Birds” is being expanded to a brigade.

This was announced by the unit’s commander Robert Brovdi, also known by his call sign “Madyar”.

“‘Madyar’s Birds’ are being transformed into a separate unmanned aerial systems (UAS) brigade,” Brovdi shared.

Thus, during just one year (2024), Madyar’s Birds evolved from a company into a separate battalion, a separate regiment, and a separate 414th Brigade of UAVs.

As part of the reform, the unit is increasing the number of personnel and expanding its competencies.

Madyar’s Birds specialize in the use of attack drones, electronic intelligence and warfare systems, remote drone mining, patrolling and fire adjustment tasks, and deep reconnaissance.

The formation is part of the Marine Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The unit took part in the Battle of Bakhmut, where it held the line for 110 days until it received the order to withdraw in March 2023.

Since the beginning of the Krynky operation, the Madyars’ Birds have been destroying the enemy on the left bank of the Kherson region.

On January 16, 2024, Robert Brovdi reported that the unit had fought for 692 days and fought for Kherson, Krynky (Kherson region), Soledar, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Mariinka (Donetsk region) and Urozhayne (Zaporizhzhia region), and 16 soldiers received the Order of Courage.

On January 16, 2024, the unit was transferred from the 59th Separate Mechanized Brigade to the Ukrainian Marines as the 414th Separate Battalion of Unmanned Aircraft Systems.

In February, on the left bank of the Kherson region, the Madyar’s Birds hunted down Russians traveling on Chinese vehicles.
