Polish WB Electronics will produce long-range rockets for HOMAR-K multiple launch rocket systems.

This is reported by Polskie Radio 24.

Within three years, Poland plans to start producing long-range rockets under a letter of intent to be signed on Tuesday between the Polish company WB Electronics and South Korean Hanwha Aerospace.

There is currently no exact information on the type of projectile, but it is likely to be a 239 mm long-range missile, which is expected to be able to hit targets at a distance of up to 200 km.

These missiles are currently under development, but in the future they should become part of the armament of missile systems created as a potential counterweight to North Korea’s 300 mm KN-09 MLRS.

If the final contract is signed and production begins, Poland will be able to achieve a certain independence in the production of such missiles, reducing dependence on Hanwha’s production facilities.

The optional arsenal for the MLRS consists of 131 mm K33 missiles with a range of up to 36 kilometers (up to 40 pieces), 230 mm unguided KM26A2 missiles with a range of up to 45 kilometers (up to 12 pieces) and 239 mm GPS-guided CGR 080 missiles with high-explosive or cluster warheads with a range of up to 80 kilometers (up to 12 pieces).

The launcher can also accommodate two Ure-2 ballistic missiles (CTM-290) with a range of 180-280 kilometers.

It should be noted that to date, the Polish Army has ordered 290 K239 Chunmoo missile systems, which are designated HOMAR-K in the Polish army. These systems are adapted for use on the basis of the Polish truck Jelcz P882.57.

The relevant procurement agreement was signed in 2022, and the delivery is scheduled for 2027. As of today, Hanwha has already delivered 90 jet systems to Poland, having fulfilled almost half of the contract.

In December 2024, the first live firing of the HOMAR-K multiple launch rocket system took place at the central training ground of the Polish Air Force in Ustka.

The missiles were launched by the 18th Missile Brigade.
