The second batch of American M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tanks intended for the Polish Army has arrived in Poland.

This is reported by the publication Polska Zbrojna.

19 tanks that make up the second batch are already in Poland. According to Deputy Defense Minister Paweł Bejda, they will soon enter service with the Polish army.

However, before that happens, the vehicles will be sent to the Wojskowe Zakłady Motoryzacyjne Military Plant in Poznan. The Regional Competence Center for Abrams tank maintenance has been operating on the basis of this plant for more than a year.

There, experts will check the key components of the vehicles for possible damage caused by unfavorable marine climatic conditions.

Poland has ordered a total of 250 M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tanks in 2022. The tanks are scheduled to be delivered to Poland in 2025 and 2026.

The first batch of 28 new tanks was delivered by sea in January 2025.

Poland will spend USD 6 billion to purchase tanks and related equipment. For these funds, it will receive: 250 AN/VLQ-12 CREW Duke IED countermeasures systems, 26 M88A2 HERCULES evacuation vehicles, 17 M1110 bridge builders, 276 M2 .50 caliber machine guns, 500 M240C 7.62 mm machine guns and 15 AGT1500 gas turbine engines.

The M1A2 SEPv3 combat vehicles will be delivered to the 18th Mechanized Division named after General Tadeusz Buk. The tanks will be deployed to the 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade and the 19th Mechanized Brigade, which are part of the 18th Division.

In addition to the M1A2 SEPv3 tanks, Poland also has 116 M1A1 FEP tanks, which were previously in service with the US Marine Corps. They were purchased in 2023 to replace the T-72 and PT-91 tanks that were transferred to Ukraine.

According to the plan, over time, these combat vehicles should also be modernized and brought to the level of M1A2 SEPv3.

In addition, Poland has 28 M1A2 SEPv2 tanks. They are used by Polish tankers for crew training and will be returned to the United States in the future.
