Poland has ended a six-day search for an unidentified flying object that may have entered its airspace near Lublin on October 18.
According to RMF24, the military and other services found no evidence of the object.
More than 30 members of Poland’s Territorial Defense Forces participated in the operation each day. They searched the area around a reservoir and locations south of Lublin, including the municipality of Niedrzwica Duża near the S19 expressway.
During the first few days of the search, the military also deployed a helicopter.
Polish authorities analyzed radar data and local residents’ statements to determine the nature of the unidentified object.
Possible explanations included meteorological phenomena, smuggling activity, or a provocation.
Lieutenant Colonel Jacek Goryszewski, spokesperson for the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command, said the military had no evidence confirming that the country’s airspace had been violated.
The search operation ended on Friday, October 23.
According to Captain Marta Haborek, spokesperson for the 2nd Lublin Territorial Defense Brigade, the military found neither the object itself nor any debris or other traces that could confirm local residents’ reports.
At around 2:00 a.m. on October 18, 2026, police received two reports from local residents who had heard a loud noise from an unidentified object flying over the area near the Zemborzyce Reservoir.
At the time, the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command said it was investigating a radar signal and local residents’ reports.
