The Latvian National Armed Forces used the BLAZE interceptor drone for the first time after an unidentified aircraft violated the country’s airspace near the Russian border.

The Latvian National Armed Forces confirmed the incident.

On November 1 at 6:57 p.m., air raid alerts were issued in the Krāslava and Ludza regions after an unidentified aerial object was detected.
In response, the military deployed the Latvian-made BLAZE interceptor drone.

However, at 7:16 p.m., the unidentified aerial vehicle left Latvian airspace and crossed the border into Russia.

Three minutes later, at 7:19 p.m., the military activated the BLAZE drone’s self-destruct mechanism near the border to prevent it from potentially falling into Russian territory.
