Engineers of the Diving Detachment of the Omega Special Purpose Center of the National Guard of Ukraine, in cooperation with a Ukrainian defense company, have developed an unmanned surface vehicle (USV).
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine announced the development on its official social media channels.
The new USV was designed for combat operations in southern Ukraine and serves as a launch platform for FPV drones.
The developers plan to further adapt the system for the interception of aerial targets.
Photos of the platform show that the USV is powered by a Japanese-made Suzuki engine and equipped with a satellite communications terminal.
Previously, the Ukrainian Defense Forces had already begun employing heavy bomber UAVs to transport one-way attack unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) for subsequent strikes on Russian positions.
According to Russian sources, this approach extends the operational range of the one-way attack UGVs while reducing the heavy bomber UAVs’ exposure to fire from Russian positions.
